Student Conduct and Community Standards

The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (OSC) resolves all Howard University incidents of student misconduct, on-campus and off-campus.

The Office is designed to help improve the decision-making skills of undergraduate and graduate students during their matriculation at Howard University. Our mission is to advance student achievement and student success by challenging students to:

  • make enlightened decisions,

  • become astute problem solvers, and

  • learn how to manage and resolve conflict with emotional intelligence.

Our core values include:

  • change,

  • student achievement,

  • integrity,

  • student development, and

  • conflict analysis and resolution.

OSC provides overarching and interconnecting support to the University in cooperation with the HU Department of Public Safety and the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs. OSC works with office and departments across the University, including but not limited to Residence Life, Student Life & Activities, Off-Campus Housing, the Professional and Graduate schools, HU Hospital, and the Title IX office.

The Student Code of Conduct provides the rights and responsibilities that form the core values of honesty, integrity, responsibility, and respect for persons and property that govern the conduct of Howard students, both on and off the campus.
