Move-In Checklist 2023

Student Move In

Hello Bison! Welcome to the 2023-2024 academic year. As students prepare to return to campus, please be aware that the following must be completed before you can move into your Residence Hall:

  • Purchase or upload your Renter's Insurance

  • Complete and upload your medical documentation

  • Register for classes

  • Sign the Residence License Agreement (RLA)

Rental Insurance is required of all students living in residential housing and must be obtained prior to move-in. As noted in your housing agreement, Howard University does not assume any financial responsibility for the personal property of students. Examples of coverage include stolen electronics and fire, smoke or water damage, to name a few. Howard University has partnered with GradGuard, which offers a College Renters Insurance Plan that is specifically designed for students. You may purchase insurance with GradGuard or provide proof of personal renter’s insurance through your housing application.

All medical documentation must be up to date, in accordance with the Student Health Center. Please complete your documentation in the Student Health system.

If you have an existing account, please log back in to see if you need vaccinations or other documentation to lift any holds.  If so, once you have provided the correct documentation, allow up to 72 hours for your documentation to be reviewed and verified by the Student Health Center.  If you have questions, email studenthealthforms@howard.edu

Register for Classes: Be sure that you are registered for classes. Your academic advisor would have confirmed this with you upon enrollment.

The Residential License Agreement (RLA) pertains to space occupied in the residence hall by a student; it is not for a specific room. It is for the purpose of providing a student with lodging for study and living purposes.  Students will sign the RLA after they receive their final housing assignment.

Students will not be allowed to move in to the Residence Hall without completing the prior requirements.
