Vice President for Student Affairs Blog

Welcome, Students!

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I hope this will be one of many visits you make here. This blog is important to me because it will help me make more connections with students outside of the more formal settings in which I typically see you. Some of my best days in the office are when I get to have thoughtful and insightful conversations with students. I’d like to create more space for those opportunities for conversation and this blog is one step of many in achieving that. I like to imagine these blog posts as conversations we could have in my office, sharing life lessons and other anecdotes over tea (preferably Earl Grey).

My goal as the Vice President for Student Affairs is to help you, the students, navigate through your matriculation at the “Mecca.” I want each of you to get the most you can out of your experience at Howard. College is much more than a means to earn a degree. As President Frederick reminds us: you will get more than your degree at Howard—you will get an education. Your experience at Howard will challenge and reward you in ways you never imagined. It is my hope that this will be a holistic growth opportunity for you, with thoughtfulness and introspection that will help you become the best version of yourself.

- Kenneth M. Holmes, Vice President for Student Affairs
